  • How to Join a Club Sport
    Are you interested in playing a Club Sport? You're in the right place! Whether you're more of a competitive or recreational athlete, we encourage all students to sign-up. Follow these 4 simple steps to register: Step 1: Register online at www.dosportseasy.com/sacredheartclubsports Step 2: Fill out all medical forms - these can only be accessed once signed up on do sports easy Step 3: Submit medical forms to our office: Ray Mencio Club Sports Office 5151 Park Avenue Fairfield, CT 06825 or visit us downstairs in the Pitt Center Step 4: Play a Club Sport! For more information look out for us at orientation and keep an eye out for e-mails. Within the first 2 weeks of the semester our office will host interest meetings for each club individually. At these meetings you will get the chance to meet the captains/coaches, receive the practice schedule, and learn more about the club. All interested are encouraged to attend!
  • Club Figure Skating Places 4th in Delaware Qualifier

    The Club Figure Skating team placed Fourth Overall this past weekend at the US Figure Skating Sectional qualifying competition at the University of Delaware. Several members of the team had key performances that pushed them through the competition. Simona Lee was specifically singled out by Coach Fedick as she earned 8 points for her dances. She placed third in the Junior Short Program, fourth in the Junior Championship Freeskate and fourth in the Juvenile Solo Dance.
  • SHU Big Red Crossfit to Participate in "the Cam" WOD

    Coach Channing Vidal and his SHU Big Red Crossfit team announced that they will be participating in 'the Cam" WOD next Tuesday to help raise funds and awareness for the AHC Foundation (www.ahckids.org) , an organization striving to develop research for effective treatments and find a cure.
  • Men's Club Basketball Finishes 3rd Overall in Boston Tournament

    The Sacred Heart Men's Club team traveled to Boston University to take part in the National Club Basketball Tournament. SHU joined Villanova, Fairfield University, and Boston College in a round robin pool where the top two teams advance. Friday night SHU took on Villanova and came up short, losing 65-54. Freshman guard, Ben Bagnoli helped his team keep it close by dropping 23pts. Saturday morning SHU took on the hometown rival, Fairfield U. SHU won 76-71 in OT. Bagnoli once again had an impressive performance by scoring 24pts. The final game of the pool play was Saturday night against Boston College, who looked to be a powerhouse. SHU ended up missing a buzzer beater that would've sent the game into OT and fell 52-49. Junior captain, Matt Buchner, led the team with 20pts, consisting of 5 three pointers. The pioneers didn't up advancing in pool play but had a lot to be proud of. Boston College ended up finishing 3rd overall of about 30 teams and SHU just missed beating them. The men's team looks to improve their season as they travel to play UCONN this upcoming weekend.
  • SHU Club Figure Skating Places 5th in MIT Qualifier

    Congratulations to the Sacred Heart University Figure Skating club team for finishing fifth overall at their first collegiate competition of the season at MIT in Boston. The team competed amongst the 30 collegiate figure skating teams in the eastern conference. Some of the featured skaters that assisted in the teams’ placement were freshmen, Tessa Peredy and Ruby Jusas, as well as Senior Helen Serafini. The team will compete in two more competitions, next month, at Liberty University and at the University of Delaware.
  • Women's Basketball Competes in 2017 NIRSA Boston Regional

    This past weekend the Sacred Heart women’s basketball team competed in the NIRSA Regional Tournament held at Boston University. On Friday night the Pioneers kicked the tournament off by facing Ithaca College. The game remained a defensive battle for much of the first half as the score remained tied at 1 through the first 10 minutes of play. The Pioneers could never find their way offensively as they struggled to find a rhythm. They were led by freshmen Vanessa Kobyluck 7 points. Game 2 would be held on Saturday morning against host Boston University. The Terriers would be the eventual runners up and their experience showed. After BU took a 12 point lead with 3 minutes to go in the half, the Pioneers stormed back to cut the lead to 4 with just under 30 seconds to go. However, with less than 10 seconds on the clock the Terriers would hit another 3 to increase their half time lead to 7 by a score of 23-16. The Pioneers struggled again offensively in the second half and were outpaced by a final of 47-26. In their third and final game the Pioneers took on Dartmouth College. The game would be back and forth for much of the first half with numerous Pioneers getting into foul trouble early. The game remained a one possession game for much of the second half until Big Green would connect on 6 straight free throws to seal the win. Throughout the weekend the Pioneers were led offensively by Kobyluck who averaged 8.3 points per game.
  • Men's Club Hockey Advances to Regionals

    The Sacred Heart Men's Club Ice Hockey team learned their fate today as the postseason approaches. After a disappointing finish to their season last night at the hands of Eastern Connecticut State University, who handed them a 6-2 loss at ECSU, the SHU Men's Club Ice Hockey team learned that they will had a chance at redemption this weekend.
  • The Campus Life Leadership Awards are April 26th

    The Campus Life Leadership Awards is an annual awards reception where the student leaders across campus are recognized for their contributions to the Sacred Heart Community. The Student Life office encourages all students, faculty and staff members to take the time and nominate a student leader.
  • Cannon named Athlete of the Week

    This weeks club sport athlete of the week is senior Sheamus Cannon. Sheamus helped lead the sacred heart mens club volleyball team with solid leadership and hard work during their weekend trip to CCRI. The team hung tough against tough opponents, including the Coast Guard Academy, Uconn and Providence college. Coach Twerago mentioned that Cannons "tireless work ethic and determination has proved successful as he's improved greatly since the start of the season!" Cannon finished the weekend with 9 kills and 3 blocks. Athlete of the week honors will be released every week at the beginning of the week.
