Stamford, CT- On Saturday, October 27, 2018, the Big Red CrossFit team had members go and compete at a strongman-style competition in Stamford at Hybrid Athletics. Athletes such as first-year athlete Shelly Carpino represented the team in her first year with BRCF. At the competition, Shelly did her first ever stone to shoulder workout as well as carried the infamous yoke for an impressive 375 pounds or, in other words, three times her bodyweight! Her partner in crime was BRCF veteran Becca Rutkiewicz, who crushed the stone work and carried an impressive 385 pounds for 50 feet with ease and followed it up by carrying 400 pounds for 49 feet, just one foot shy of the mark and just shy of three times her bodyweight! On the men’s side, the team was represented by Nico Treglia and Tyler Wakefield. Nico made light work of the 145# stone to shoulder workout and then hammered out a 50 foot walk with an impressive 535 pounds on his back in the yoke event. Tyler did really well in only his second competition with us and had a blast getting the chance to team up with some Hybrid members. Tyler looked sharp on his skills and also managed a 375 pound yoke carry on just his second time ever performing the movement. Coach Vidal also partook in the lifting as the seasoned old guy of the group and managed a personal best on the 50 foot yoke carry of 535 pounds for just over a three times bodyweight carry. The team now sets it sights to upcoming competitions in November and looking to end the first semester of the 2018-2019 season fitter and stronger each workout.
