Coach Channing Vidal and his SHU Big Red Crossfit team announced that they will be participating in 'the Cam" WOD next Tuesday to help raise funds and awareness for the AHC Foundation (www.ahckids.org) , an organization striving to develop research for effective treatments and find a cure.
Last Saturday, Jan 21, the Big Red CrossFit Competition Team competed at The Uproar at CrossFit Meriden. The team competed in three events, and did so by bringing four teams of two same sex athletes. Three of those five teams placed in their respective positions, which included a First and Third place finish for two male teams, and a Third place finish for two females. Finishing in first were two Connecticut locals in Nico Treglia of Danbury, CT and Nick Anagnost of Fairfield, CT. The second place males were made up of Jason Iadisernia of Jackson, NJ and Tommy Taranto of Burlington, MA. For ladies Pietrina Daly of Nutley, NJ and Riley Cassin of Meriden, CT – this was their second competition in two months and second straight third place finish. We even had two teams comprised completely of first-time competitors in Nicole Silvar of Wantagh, NY, Georgia Viggiano of Centerport, NY, Corina Zdrowski of Woodbridge, CT, and Christina Magliocco of Bethany, CT. The atmosphere was awesome and Big Red CrossFit represented in an amazing way with over 5,000 pounds of weights lifted as a team in event 2 alone, and a couple of trophies being brought back to Sacred Heart University.
