Club Football Advances to NCFA National Championship!

 Erie, PA - The Sacred Heart Club Football program, fresh off their second North Atlantic Conference Championship in three years, traveled to Erie, PA to take on the defending National Champions, Oakland University, in the NCFA National Semi- Final. The team had to overcome a lot of adversity including missing several players and playing in tough conditions. Through those tough conditions, the North Atlantic Conference Champions defeated Oakland, 28-6.

The Pioneers struck first, after sustaining a drive the Pioneers punched it in from 1 yards out with a powerfun downhill run by Junior Jordan James. The teams traded possessions before the Pioneers struck again, this time a pass downfield from Senior QB Chris Criscuolo to Senior WR/DB Curtis Sutherland. Curtis would be named National Offensive Player of the Week for his contributions this game.

Senior Captain Brian Moore was named Natinoal Defensive Player of the Week for his contributions. Brian was a force all over the field this game, finishing with 16 tackles, 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

Sophomore WR Tyler Toussaint scored the final touchdown of the game with 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter on a broken scramble by Criscuolo. The big win ended Oakland University's 23 game winning streak in the NCFA. 

The Club Football team earned a spot in the National Championship game with their big win over Oakland University. Its the first time in the brief three year history of the program that they will play for the NCFA National Title. The National Title is this Saturday in Wheeling, WV against the University of Fort Lauderdale. Kickoff is at 3 pm and will be streamed live on Facebook and the NCFA homepage.
