Bridgeport, CT – On November 9th, Sacred Heart Club B Ice Hockey took on their cross town rivals, Yale University, in the first of two scheduled meetings for the season. Sacred Heart was coming off three consecutive losses, making them hungry for a win in front of their home crowd. As the fans piled into the arena to watch the boys skate out for warmups, you could tell it was going to be an electric night at Wonderland of Ice. 5 minutes into the first period, Yale put the first points of the game on the board. Shortly after, SHU was able to tie it on a goal from sophomore Charles Sikorski. Yale added one more to head into the first intermission up 2-1. The SHU defense really turned up the heat and was able to shut out Yale in the second, while the team recorded goals from senior captain Mike Malloy, sophomore Chris Yonkers, and junior Kyle Horsa. In the third, SHU tacked on 2 more to put Yale away and earn the win 6-3.
SHU Ice Hockey ‘B’ closes out the semester with 2 upcoming road games before the holiday break. After a bye weekend this week, they head to Nichols College for a game on Sunday, December 9th, looking to avenge a loss earlier this season 10-5 on November 3rd. They finish out the month at Middlesex Community College on December 15th for their first match up of the season.
