The Pioneers started off their spring lacrosse season this past weekend with games against Fairfield, Hofstra, and NYU. After facing a disappointing loss to the crosstown rival on Friday night at Campus Field, Sacred Heart came back with a vengeance the next day to beat Hofstra and NYU, finishing with a 2-1 record on the weekend.
When asked about Friday night, Coach Ben Ketcham expressed, “it was definitely a disappointing loss, you never want to lose like that, but to be honest, it was the first time the guys were really out there on the field playing together. You could tell they were just getting used one another and there was a lot that they had to figure out for themselves. By the time the second half came around, and even more so, by the fourth quarter, it was like a completely different team out there-making good passes and setting up good opportunities in front of the crease. I don’t believe the score of the game reflects the abilities of this team.”
