Softball Spring Season Preview

Fairfield, CT-  The Sacred Heart Club Softball team is excited to open up the season with conference play facing URI on Saturday, March 23rd. The following day, March 24th, the Pioneers will then face Hofstra University for a three game series. Sacred Heart faced Hofstra this past fall winning the three game series, 2-1. Heading into opening weekend, the Pioneers had a 9-5 record with a 7-5 record in conference play. The Pioneers are looking for a comeback and are determined to make it a 3-0 opening weekend.

In the beginning of April, the team will have their first scheduled away games of the spring season. The Pioneers will be heading to State College, PA to face Penn State in a 3 game series. Then, the team will head down to Charlottesville, VA to play some of the best competition in club softball. The Pioneers will face off in their first game against Navy, who were the 2018 NCSA National Champions. Following the Navy game, they are scheduled to play a total of 5 more games with the opponents to be determined as the time comes closer.

Following Virginia, the Pioneers will head back to Connecticut to play their final 2 home series of the season. They will first start with a double header facing Western Connecticut State University on April 17th, with senior day coming up at the end of the month. The SHU Club Softball Team will be honoring their 3 captains Stefani Antoshak, Julia Collins, and Allison Hall. The Pioneers will face the University of New Haven on April 28th starting at 10:00am with a ceremony before game time.
