Fairfield, CT- This past Friday, October 4, the Club Field Hockey team played the University of New Haven at home, ending in a 2-0 victory for the Pioneers. Sacred Heart played a great game, dominating both halves. The game started with a goal scored by sophomore Katie Keane, unassisted. The second goal finished out the game, scored by freshman, Ashley Gilies off a corner inserted by sophomore Jackie Champoux. The Pioneers played a good game from start to finish. Although the play majorly remained out of the SHU defensive circle, goalie, Bridget Doherty, had great clears out of the circle along with defenseman Marisa Glum and Morgan Yannotta quickly moving the ball back up the field. There was a great turn out in the fan section, and the Club Field Hockey team did not let the cold weather get to them and played a great game. The Pioneers are excited to play again at Rutgers on October 20.
